The Medical Science Liaison supports scientific exchange between Novartis and healthcare professionals. Requirements typically include a degree in medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, or a related scientific field; experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or the pharmaceutical industry; strong knowledge of scientific literature; and excellent communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English. The candidate is expected to build trusted relationships with key opinion leaders, provide balanced and non-promotional medical information, collect insights from the field, support clinical and evidence-generation activities, and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations. Frequent travel, strong presentation skills, independence, and the ability to work collaboratively with commercial, regulatory, and medical teams are also expected.
Novartis is a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Switzerland, focused on discovering and developing innovative medicines. The company works across areas such as cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases, immunology, neuroscience, oncology, and hematology. Its purpose is to reimagine medicine by using scientific research, advanced technology, and data to improve patient outcomes. Novartis operates in many countries and collaborates with healthcare professionals, researchers, governments, and patient organizations to expand access to important treatments. In Indonesia, the company supports local medical and healthcare communities through scientific engagement, regulatory activities, education, and the introduction of innovative therapies. Employees typically work in cross-functional, international teams and are expected to demonstrate integrity, scientific curiosity, inclusion, and a strong commitment to patients.
Indonesia offers diverse opportunities in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, technology, finance, manufacturing, education, and tourism. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate center and is likely to offer the broadest range of medical-affairs and multinational-company roles. Bandung and Surabaya also have growing professional markets, while Bali is popular for lifestyle and international communities but has fewer corporate healthcare positions. Indonesian culture values respect, family, community, and relationship-building; Bahasa Indonesia is essential for daily life, while English is common in multinational workplaces. Living costs vary considerably, with Jakarta generally more expensive than many regional cities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, a work permit, and an appropriate KITAS; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation planning should include accommodation, healthcare, transportation, tax registration, and local immigration compliance. Novartis or its appointed advisers would normally guide successful candidates through the required process.
