Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, retail and logistics. Hotel jobs are concentrated around Marina Bay, Orchard, the Central Business District, Sentosa and airport areas. The culture is multicultural and generally orderly, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is excellent, though rent can be high, especially in central neighbourhoods. Lifestyle options include hawker food, shopping, museums, parks, nightlife and easy regional travel. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass. Hospitality professionals may be considered for an S Pass or, depending on qualifications and salary, an Employment Pass; approval depends on current government criteria, quotas and salary thresholds. Employers often assist with the application, but candidates should confirm eligibility before relocating. Budget carefully for accommodation, deposits, transport and healthcare, and check working-hour and benefits details in the employment contract.
