Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-island with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, technology, finance, retail, marketing and international business. Its multicultural population includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and expatriate communities, with English widely used at work. Life is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare, abundant dining and shopping, and many parks and waterfront areas. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near central districts, so budgeting carefully is important. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to government eligibility requirements, salary criteria and quotas where applicable. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking and tax registration. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. The city offers an efficient lifestyle, but working hours in hotels may include weekends, evenings and public holidays.
