Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with opportunities in aviation, logistics, technology, finance, hospitality, healthcare and education. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its languages, festivals and excellent food. Public transport is efficient, healthcare and public services are well organised, and daily life is generally safe and convenient, although housing and childcare can be expensive. Popular leisure options include hawker centres, museums, parks, beaches at Sentosa and nearby nature reserves. Foreign professionals usually need an employment pass, S Pass or another appropriate work authorisation arranged through an employer; approval depends on salary, qualifications and government criteria. New arrivals should budget carefully, secure accommodation early and understand local employment, tax and healthcare rules. Changi Airport provides excellent regional connections, making Singapore a practical base for travel across Asia.
