Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, safe, and highly connected city-state with strong opportunities in banking, fintech, technology, compliance, data science, cybersecurity, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in food, festivals, and daily life. Public transport is efficient, healthcare is high quality, and English is widely used at work. The lifestyle is convenient but relatively expensive, especially housing; many expatriates begin by renting rooms or apartments near MRT stations. Employment generally requires a work pass arranged by the employer, most commonly an Employment Pass for professional and managerial roles, subject to salary and eligibility criteria. Candidates should budget for rent, transport, insurance, and childcare where relevant. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rainfall, while nearby Southeast Asian destinations are easy to reach for holidays.
