Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in aviation, finance, technology, logistics, hospitality, healthcare and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in food, festivals and everyday life. Public transport is efficient and affordable, while neighbourhoods range from central business districts to quieter residential areas. The climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. Living costs can be high, particularly for accommodation, although public transport and local food are relatively accessible. Foreign interns and employees generally need an appropriate work pass; eligibility depends on the role, salary, duration and sponsoring employer. Common routes include the Training Employment Pass, Employment Pass and S Pass, subject to Singapore’s current requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage and a local bank account, and check official immigration guidance before relocating.
