OCBC Bank is one of Southeast Asia’s largest financial institutions and Singapore’s longest-established bank. Founded in 1932, it provides consumer, business, corporate and investment banking, wealth management, insurance and treasury services across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greater China and other markets. The bank serves individuals, entrepreneurs, companies and institutional clients through branches, digital platforms and specialist teams. OCBC has invested heavily in digital banking, data, artificial intelligence and technology-led customer experiences, making digital capability development a strategic priority. Its wider group includes Great Eastern Holdings and Bank of Singapore. The organisation is known for its regional scale, emphasis on risk management and ongoing investment in talent, innovation and responsible growth. Employees typically work in a structured banking environment with opportunities to collaborate across countries, business units and technology functions.
Singapore offers strong opportunities in banking, financial technology, technology, consulting, healthcare, logistics and professional services. Its culture is multicultural, efficient and generally formal at work, while daily life is safe, convenient and highly international. Housing is expensive, especially near the central business district, but public transport is excellent and food, healthcare and urban amenities are widely accessible. Employment usually requires an employer-sponsored work pass. Professionals in senior specialist or management roles commonly use the Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and Ministry of Manpower requirements; the company normally handles the application. Relocating candidates should budget for rent, deposits, insurance, school fees where relevant and moving costs. Singapore has a hot, humid climate year-round with frequent rain. English is widely used in business, although Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The city’s compact size makes it easy to explore parks, heritage districts, beaches and nearby Southeast Asian destinations.
