The role leads OCBC’s Group Sustainability function, shaping and delivering the bank’s sustainability strategy across climate risk, responsible finance, ESG governance, disclosure, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates should have substantial senior leadership experience in sustainability, ESG, climate strategy, risk, finance, consulting, or a related field, preferably within banking or financial services. Strong knowledge of international sustainability standards, regulatory expectations, carbon transition issues, and sustainable finance is expected. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and influential communicator who can work with senior executives, regulators, investors, clients, and business teams. The role also requires the ability to build partnerships, lead complex enterprise-wide initiatives, and translate sustainability objectives into measurable commercial and risk outcomes.
OCBC Bank is one of Southeast Asia’s largest financial institutions and Singapore’s longest-established bank. Founded in 1932, it provides consumer, business, corporate, investment, private banking, insurance, and wealth management services. The bank operates across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greater China, and other international markets, serving individuals, companies, institutions, and high-net-worth clients. OCBC has a strong regional franchise supported by its subsidiaries, including Great Eastern and Bank of Singapore. The group is investing heavily in digital banking, sustainable finance, technology, and responsible growth. Its sustainability agenda includes supporting customers through the transition to a lower-carbon economy, managing climate-related risks, improving environmental and social outcomes, and strengthening governance. As a major ASEAN bank, OCBC offers senior professionals opportunities to influence regional strategy and work on complex, high-impact financial and sustainability initiatives.
Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a major Asian hub for banking, technology, consulting, logistics, healthcare, and professional services. It offers strong opportunities for experienced finance and sustainability professionals, particularly in ESG, climate risk, sustainable finance, compliance, data, and digital transformation. The culture is multicultural, orderly, fast-paced, and generally business-oriented, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, modern shopping areas, parks, beaches, and easy regional travel. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, while healthcare and public services are efficient. Foreign professionals typically require an Employment Pass sponsored by their employer; senior executives may qualify for an advanced or personalised pass subject to prevailing requirements. Relocation planning should cover housing, schooling, insurance, tax, and dependent passes. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and high cost of living are important practical considerations.
