Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in banking, technology, cybersecurity, data, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. Its financial district and technology sector attract international employers, including banks such as UOB. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally fast-paced, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from efficient public transport, hawker centres, shopping malls, and coastal parks to an active arts and nightlife scene. Housing is convenient but expensive, especially in central areas; many newcomers choose apartments near MRT stations or shared accommodation. Employment Pass eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience, and employer sponsorship, while dependants may qualify for related passes. New arrivals should arrange a work pass, local bank account, phone service, health insurance, and suitable housing. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
