The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, commercially aware, willing to learn, and able to communicate effectively while managing deadlines in a team-based banking environment.
United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Southeast Asian bank headquartered in Singapore, with a history dating back to 1935. It provides personal and business banking, commercial and corporate banking, transaction banking, wealth management, investment banking, and capital markets services. UOB serves individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, multinational corporations, and institutional clients across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, and other international markets. The bank is particularly recognised for its regional network and its support of cross-border trade, investment, and business expansion. Its infrastructure and project finance activities typically involve funding large-scale projects in sectors such as transport, energy, utilities, telecommunications, and social infrastructure. UOB employs professionals across banking, technology, risk, operations, and support functions, offering interns exposure to structured transactions, financial analysis, client work, and the broader financial-services industry.
Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a leading Asian hub for banking, finance, technology, logistics, and professional services. Job opportunities are strongest in financial services, digital banking, wealth management, compliance, engineering, healthcare, technology, and regional corporate functions. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally professional, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from modern shopping districts and excellent public transport to hawker centres, parks, beaches, and a lively arts and dining scene. International interns and professionals usually need the appropriate work authorisation; employers commonly sponsor permits such as the Training Employment Pass, Work Holiday Pass, or Employment Pass, depending on eligibility and programme structure. Relocation is straightforward but housing can be expensive, especially in central areas. Renting a room, using public transport, arranging insurance, and budgeting for food and accommodation are important before arrival.
