Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city with strong opportunities in banking, fintech, technology, consulting, logistics, healthcare, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is efficient, diverse, and generally respectful, with a strong emphasis on punctuality and performance. Lifestyle options range from hawker centres and neighbourhood cafés to museums, shopping districts, parks, beaches, and excellent public transport. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so newcomers often consider shared accommodation or locations near MRT lines. International interns should confirm whether the employer sponsors the appropriate Training Employment Pass or other work authorisation; foreigners cannot work on a tourist visit. Longer-term employees generally require an Employment Pass or S Pass. Arrange accommodation, insurance, banking access, and tax guidance before relocating.
