Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, fintech, payments, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, punctual and generally professional, with excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods and a wide range of food and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, so interns often consider shared apartments or locations near MRT lines. International students and graduates should confirm whether the employer sponsors the appropriate internship or work pass; eligibility depends on nationality, programme and institution. Full-time roles commonly require an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to government criteria. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, food, insurance and a security deposit, and verify all immigration requirements before relocating.
