Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, logistics, professional services, and hospitality. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages, food, and neighbourhoods. The lifestyle is convenient and generally safe, with efficient public transport, modern facilities, shopping areas, parks, beaches, and a lively food scene. Housing can be expensive, especially near the central business district, so many newcomers share apartments or live farther from the centre. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year. Foreign interns and professionals generally need an appropriate work pass arranged with employer support; eligibility depends on nationality, salary, qualifications, and placement type. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance, and daily expenses, and confirm pass requirements before travelling.
