Destination Guide

The Bahamas offers employment opportunities in luxury resorts, restaurants, tourism, marine activities, retail, construction, healthcare, and professional services. Hospitality is central to the economy, particularly on Nassau and Paradise Island, where international resorts provide many jobs. Bahamian culture blends African, Caribbean, and British influences, with a strong emphasis on music, food, family, and community. The lifestyle is warm, outdoor-oriented, and relaxed, although living costs—especially housing and imported goods—can be high. Foreign nationals generally need a valid job offer and an employer-supported work permit before starting employment; requirements vary by nationality and role. Relocating staff should confirm accommodation, transportation, medical coverage, contract terms, and permit responsibilities with the employer. Nassau is well connected internationally, while island life can be quieter and more limited outside major tourism centers.
