Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and a major centre for logistics, aviation, finance, technology and regional headquarters. Job opportunities are strong in supply chain, freight forwarding, e-commerce, data, engineering, sales and multinational corporate services, although competition is high. The culture is multicultural, English-speaking and generally efficient, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, healthcare is reliable and food choices are exceptional, but accommodation and daily expenses can be expensive. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government assessment; eligible dependants may receive related passes. Relocating workers should budget for rent, health insurance, deposits and schooling if applicable. Singapore offers a clean, safe lifestyle, warm weather year-round and easy travel around Southeast Asia, though its fast pace and humid climate may require adjustment.
