Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, logistics, hospitality, professional services and multinational companies. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful, with strong emphasis on punctuality, education and workplace performance. Public transport is excellent, and most areas are accessible by MRT and bus. The lifestyle is convenient but relatively expensive, particularly housing; food courts, hawker centres, parks and shopping areas offer options for different budgets. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to current eligibility rules and salary thresholds. Employers normally handle the application. Relocating workers should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and daily expenses, and verify pass requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before accepting an offer.
