Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in banking, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and professional services, with the central business district hosting many regional headquarters. Workplace culture is generally professional, punctual and collaborative, although expectations can be demanding in regulated industries. The island has excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure, diverse food, modern housing and easy access to parks and beaches. Living costs are high, especially rent, and accommodation should be arranged carefully before moving. Foreign professionals normally require employer-sponsored permission, commonly an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility, salary and government approval. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, healthcare and daily expenses, and check tax and employment rules. Singapore’s compact size makes commuting convenient, while its multicultural environment and regional air connections make it a practical base for Southeast Asian careers.
