Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in banking, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, professional services and multinational companies. English is widely used at work, and the business culture is generally efficient, structured and multicultural, with emphasis on reliability, teamwork and results. The island has excellent public transport, modern healthcare, safe neighbourhoods and a wide range of food and entertainment. Housing is the main expense, especially near the central business district, while public transport is affordable and convenient. Foreign professionals generally need employer-sponsored permission such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government eligibility requirements. New arrivals should arrange housing, health insurance, banking and tax registration after securing employment. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. A valid work pass is required before starting work, and policies should be checked with the Ministry of Manpower.
