Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, fintech, technology, logistics, healthcare, professional services and regional headquarters. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on punctuality, performance and respect. Lifestyle options range from hawker centres and shopping districts to beaches, parks, museums and vibrant neighbourhoods. Public transport is excellent, although accommodation can be expensive, especially near the central business district. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government assessment; other passes apply to different skill levels. New arrivals should arrange housing, healthcare coverage, banking access and tax registration. Singapore’s safety, infrastructure and regional connectivity make it an attractive relocation base, although the cost of living and competitive job market require careful planning.
