Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, fintech, technology, logistics, healthcare, professional services and regional headquarters. It is a multicultural society where English is widely used, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. Life is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, efficient services, diverse food and extensive shopping and entertainment. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, although public transport makes commuting from suburban neighbourhoods practical. Employment Passes are commonly used by foreign professionals, with eligibility based on salary, qualifications, experience and employer requirements; applications are submitted by the sponsoring employer. Relocating workers should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and schooling where relevant. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rainfall, so lightweight clothing and adaptable routines are useful.
