Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, financial technology, technology, logistics, healthcare, professional services and regional headquarters. Workplaces are generally multicultural, structured and performance-oriented, with English widely used in business. The lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, reliable healthcare, diverse food and numerous shopping, cultural and outdoor activities. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, although public-housing rooms and suburban apartments may reduce costs. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, while qualifying mid-skilled roles may use an S Pass; approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government criteria. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance and deposits, and confirm tax, employment and dependent-pass arrangements before relocating. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
