Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and a major Asian hub for banking, consulting, technology, logistics and regional headquarters. Job opportunities are strong for professionals with financial-services transformation, project management, cloud, cybersecurity, data and regulatory expertise, though competition is considerable. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally business-oriented, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from excellent public transport, hawker centres and diverse neighbourhoods to shopping, beaches, parks and an active expatriate community. Housing is convenient but expensive, especially near the central business district; suburban areas offer better value and remain well connected. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, commonly an Employment Pass, subject to salary and eligibility requirements. Relocating involves securing employment, arranging housing, healthcare and banking, and understanding local tax and employment rules. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and occasional heavy rain should also be considered.
