Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in finance, accounting, consulting, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. Its multicultural environment combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals and languages. Public transport is efficient, while housing, dining and entertainment range from practical to premium; living costs, particularly rent, can be high. Singapore is generally safe, clean and convenient, with a warm, humid climate year-round. Foreign professionals normally require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as the Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary and eligibility rules. New arrivals should arrange employment approval, accommodation, health insurance and banking before or soon after arrival. Central areas offer shorter commutes but higher rents, while neighborhoods such as Tampines, Jurong East and Woodlands can provide more space and value.
