Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with strong opportunities in financial services, audit, consulting, technology, logistics and healthcare. English is widely used at work, and the culture is multicultural, efficient and generally business-oriented, with emphasis on punctuality and professional standards. Public transport is excellent, while housing, dining and international schooling can be expensive. The city offers safe neighborhoods, diverse food, shopping, beaches and easy regional travel. Foreign professionals normally require an employer-sponsored work pass. An Employment Pass is commonly used for qualified professional roles, subject to salary and assessment criteria; the employer usually handles the application. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and relocation costs, and check current Ministry of Manpower rules before moving. Singapore’s year-round hot, humid climate and occasional heavy rain are worth preparing for.
