Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, cybersecurity, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally respectful of hierarchy and punctuality. Lifestyle options range from busy central districts and shopping malls to hawker centres, parks, beaches, and nearby islands. Public transport is reliable, although housing and daily expenses can be high; renting outside the central area may reduce costs. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications, and prevailing government criteria. Employers commonly assist with applications, but approval is not automatic. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, deposits, insurance, transport, and healthcare, and verify current immigration requirements before relocating.
