Destination Guide

The Cayman Islands offers strong opportunities in investment funds, banking, trust and corporate services, accounting, legal services, tourism, technology and professional consulting. English is the official language, and the culture is international, welcoming and influenced by Caribbean, British and North American traditions. Grand Cayman provides excellent restaurants, beaches, diving, schools and healthcare, but living costs—especially rent, groceries and transportation—are high. Employees generally enjoy a relaxed outdoor lifestyle alongside demanding professional work. Foreign nationals normally need a work permit sponsored by an employer; the employer handles much of the application process, and approval depends on the role and immigration requirements. Relocating candidates should confirm permit terms, medical insurance, housing availability and dependent arrangements before accepting an offer. Cayman has no direct personal income tax, although duties and other living expenses can be substantial. Smaller Cayman Brac and Little Cayman offer quieter lifestyles and fewer professional opportunities.
