Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in technology, finance, consulting, healthcare, logistics and advanced manufacturing. AI, cloud engineering, cybersecurity and digital transformation skills are in demand, particularly in multinational companies and regional headquarters. The culture is multicultural, efficient and business-oriented, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is excellent, housing can be expensive, and daily life is convenient, safe and strongly shaped by hawker food, shopping malls, parks and tropical weather. Foreign professionals generally need employer sponsorship for a work pass; the Employment Pass is commonly used for qualifying professional roles, subject to current salary and assessment requirements. New arrivals should budget carefully for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and possible relocation costs. The city’s central location also makes travel around Southeast Asia relatively easy.
