Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, research, logistics, tourism, and professional services. The culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and neighbourhoods. Public transport is efficient, healthcare is high quality, and the city is generally clean and safe. Lifestyle costs can be high, particularly rent, although public housing, hawker centres, and extensive transport help manage expenses. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass or another suitable work permit arranged by their employer; approval depends on qualifications, salary, and current government criteria. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, deposits, insurance, and daily costs, and check tax and pass requirements before moving. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
