Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in telecommunications, technology, engineering, finance, logistics, healthcare and professional services. The work culture is generally efficient, multicultural and performance-oriented, with English widely used in business. Living standards are high, public transport is excellent and the city is safe, clean and well connected, although rent and daily expenses can be substantial. Popular areas for expatriates include the city centre, East Coast, Queenstown and the north-east, while many residents commute easily by MRT. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass or S Pass sponsored by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government assessment. New arrivals should secure an employment contract, arrange suitable accommodation and understand healthcare and tax obligations. Singapore's tropical climate, diverse food scene, parks and nearby regional travel make it attractive for both career development and lifestyle.
