Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong employment opportunities in aviation, logistics, hospitality, technology, finance, healthcare and manufacturing. Its multicultural society includes Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, with English widely used at work and in daily life. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, hawker centres, parks and healthcare facilities. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so many workers share accommodation or live in areas connected by MRT and buses. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. New arrivals should arrange a valid job offer, medical checks where required, accommodation and local banking. Singapore is warm and humid year-round, with frequent rain and generally high living costs.
