A Distribution Planner coordinates the efficient movement of goods, balancing customer requirements, transport capacity, delivery schedules and operational costs. Typical requirements include experience in logistics, transport or supply chain planning; strong organisational and analytical skills; confidence using Excel and logistics or warehouse management systems; and the ability to work accurately under time pressure. The successful candidate is expected to monitor daily distribution activity, resolve delivery issues, communicate with carriers and internal teams, maintain accurate records and identify opportunities to improve service and efficiency. Good communication, teamwork, problem-solving skills and a practical understanding of health, safety and compliance are important. Flexibility may be required to support changing operational priorities.
