Working in Ireland

Ireland offers strong opportunities in consulting, technology, pharmaceuticals, financial services, manufacturing, logistics and international business, with Dublin serving as the main professional hub. The country has a friendly, social culture shaped by music, sport, community life and hospitality. English is the primary workplace language. Lifestyle benefits include attractive coastal and countryside destinations, a compact travel network and generally good work-life opportunities, although housing—especially in Dublin—can be expensive and competitive. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can live and work without an employment permit. Non-EEA nationals usually need an employment permit and an appropriate immigration permission; eligible professional roles may qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit, subject to occupation and salary requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation early, obtain a Personal Public Service number, open a bank account and understand tax registration. Public transport is strongest in Dublin, while a car can be useful outside major cities.
