The Operator Assistant supports field operations for Halliburton’s Logging and Perforating (L&P) services under the direction of experienced operators. Typical requirements include a secondary school certificate or equivalent, mechanical aptitude, basic computer and English skills, physical fitness, and the ability to work outdoors, travel to well sites, and follow strict safety procedures. Previous oilfield, industrial, equipment-handling, or technical experience is advantageous but training may be provided for entry-level candidates. The successful candidate is expected to assist with equipment preparation, transportation, rig-up and rig-down activities, maintenance, documentation, and safe execution of well-site services. Flexibility for shift work, remote locations, overtime, and compliance with Halliburton and customer HSE standards is essential.
Halliburton is one of the world’s major energy-services companies, providing technology, equipment, and technical expertise to oil and gas operators across the exploration, drilling, completion, production, and well-intervention lifecycle. Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, the company operates in many countries and employs a large international workforce. Its services include drilling solutions, well construction, cementing, stimulation, completion tools, wireline and perforating, artificial lift, and production optimization. Halliburton places strong emphasis on operational safety, technical training, service quality, and collaboration with customers at well sites. In Thailand, its teams support regional energy operations and may work from bases or offshore and onshore field locations. Career progression commonly includes structured training, field experience, competency development, and opportunities to move into specialist or supervisory positions.
Although this position is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand offers excellent island and coastal lifestyles for holidays or future relocation. Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Krabi, and the eastern islands are popular for beaches, diving, tourism, hospitality, marine services, construction, logistics, and remote-work opportunities. Chiang Mai itself is a cooler, lower-cost cultural hub with strong international communities, cafés, technology work, education, and healthcare services. Thai culture values respect, modesty, family, and politeness; learning basic Thai is highly beneficial. Living costs vary widely, with Bangkok, Phuket, and Samui generally more expensive than Chiang Mai. Foreign workers normally need a Thai employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before starting employment. Employers typically handle much of the process, but qualifications, medical checks, police documents, and passport validity may be required. Confirm current immigration rules before relocating.
