The Operations Support Specialist role supports the smooth, accurate and timely delivery of operational activities within DHL. Typical requirements include strong administrative and organisational skills, good written and verbal communication, confidence using Microsoft Office and operational systems, and the ability to manage records, reports and competing priorities. Experience in logistics, transport, customer service or a similar operational environment is useful. The successful candidate is expected to work reliably and collaboratively, follow DHL procedures and safety standards, maintain accurate information, respond promptly to operational issues and provide effective support to colleagues and customers. Flexibility, attention to detail, problem-solving ability and a practical, service-focused approach are important. Depending on the site, shift work, performance monitoring and regular communication with drivers, warehouse teams or customers may also be required.
DHL is a global logistics and supply chain company operating across more than 220 countries and territories. It is part of DHL Group and provides express delivery, freight transportation, warehousing, contract logistics, e-commerce fulfilment and supply chain management services. In the United Kingdom, DHL works with organisations in sectors including retail, healthcare, automotive, technology and manufacturing, as well as providing parcel and international delivery services. The company employs a large operational workforce across depots, warehouses, airports, offices and customer sites. DHL places strong emphasis on safety, service quality, sustainability, process improvement and teamwork. Employees may benefit from structured training, internal career development and opportunities to move between operational, customer-service, supervisory and specialist roles. Working conditions vary considerably by location, with some positions involving shift patterns, high-volume activity and direct coordination with transport or warehouse operations.
The United Kingdom offers opportunities in logistics, transport, warehousing, technology, healthcare, finance, engineering and customer services, with particularly strong employment markets around London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow and major ports and airports. British workplace culture generally values punctuality, professionalism, clear communication, personal responsibility and respect for work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from busy city living to quieter coastal and rural communities, although housing and transport costs can be high. Non-UK and non-Irish citizens usually need permission to work before starting employment. The Skilled Worker visa requires an eligible sponsored role, an approved employer and meeting salary and English-language rules; not every operations support position qualifies. Irish citizens can work under the Common Travel Area. Prospective movers should check current UK government visa guidance, confirm sponsorship with DHL and budget for accommodation, healthcare-related charges, transport and initial living expenses.
