About the employer

Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort is an Accor-operated island resort located in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in the southern Maldives. Mercure is Accor’s internationally recognised midscale hospitality brand, combining local character with comfortable accommodation, restaurants, recreation and personalised service. The resort welcomes leisure travellers seeking beaches, diving, water activities and a relaxed tropical holiday, while its team serves guests from a wide range of international markets. As part of Accor, employees may benefit from structured operating standards, training, internal mobility and access to the group’s global hospitality network. Daily work at the property is highly guest-focused and collaborative, with departments working together to deliver smooth island experiences. Resort employment commonly includes staff accommodation, meals, transport arrangements and other benefits, although exact terms depend on the employment contract.

Working in Maldives

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in guest relations, front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, diving, engineering, wellness, sales and management. English is widely used in tourism, while Dhivehi is the national language and local communities maintain strong Islamic traditions. Life on a resort island is scenic and social but fairly remote: work schedules can be demanding, supplies and entertainment are limited, and staff usually live in shared accommodation. Local islands provide a more community-based experience, with modest dress and respectful behaviour expected. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and valid employment approval before starting work; the employer generally handles the process. Relocation usually involves flights, medical checks, document verification and joining instructions. Confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance, leave, flights and permit responsibilities in writing before accepting an offer.
