The Assistant Banquet Manager supports the planning and delivery of weddings, conferences, meetings and other hotel events. Requirements typically include previous banquet or food-and-beverage supervisory experience, strong knowledge of service standards, excellent organization and communication skills, and fluency in Arabic and English. A hospitality diploma or equivalent experience is advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to lead and motivate colleagues, coordinate with kitchen and event teams, brief staff, monitor setup and service quality, manage guest requests, control operational costs, and ensure health, safety and Fairmont brand standards are followed. Flexibility is essential, including the ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in a busy luxury-hotel environment.
Fairmont Bab Al Bahr is a luxury waterfront hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, operated under Accor’s Fairmont brand. Located near the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and overlooking the Abu Dhabi Creek, the property offers upscale accommodation, restaurants, lounges, leisure facilities and extensive venues for weddings, conferences and social events. Fairmont is known internationally for refined service, elegant properties and memorable guest experiences. The hotel employs colleagues across rooms, food and beverage, banquets, culinary operations, sales and support departments. Its banquet operation serves both corporate and leisure markets, making teamwork, cultural awareness and attention to detail particularly important. As part of Accor, employees may benefit from structured training, international career opportunities and group-wide hospitality programs, subject to local policy and position.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Abu Dhabi is an island city connected to the mainland by bridges. It offers strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance and technology. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; respectful dress and behavior are expected, especially during Ramadan. Abu Dhabi provides a safe, modern lifestyle with beaches, shopping malls, restaurants, cultural attractions and desert excursions, although summer heat is intense. Employers normally sponsor work visas, residency permits and medical checks for overseas hires; employees should not work on a tourist visa. Contracts may include accommodation, transport, insurance and annual flights, but benefits vary. Candidates should verify salary, service charges, probation terms, working hours and housing before accepting an offer. Living costs can be high, particularly for private accommodation, while public transport and taxis make commuting relatively convenient.
