Working in Philippines

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, business process services, healthcare, education, and technology. Manila and nearby Makati offer the widest range of corporate and hospitality jobs, while Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and other resort destinations provide seasonal and international tourism work. Filipino culture values warmth, respect for elders, family connections, cooperation, and friendly guest service. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living in Manila to a more relaxed, outdoor-focused pace on the islands. English is widely used in workplaces, although Filipino and regional languages are also common. Foreign nationals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa; internships may require school coordination and immigration approval. Applicants should confirm requirements with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration and their employer. Relocation costs, tropical weather, traffic, healthcare access, and housing should be planned carefully. Local transport includes trains, buses, jeepneys, taxis, and ride-hailing services.
