Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Opportunities are strong in hotels, restaurants, events, tourism, aviation, retail and luxury services, particularly for candidates with English, sales and international customer-service experience. UAE culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of religious holidays are important. Dubai offers modern housing, extensive dining and entertainment, public transport and a fast-paced urban environment, although rent and schooling can be expensive. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas; employers generally arrange medical checks, Emirates ID processing and work permits. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation or allowance, transport, insurance, annual leave and repatriation terms. Avoid working on a tourist visa and check contract conditions carefully.
