Working in Spain Islands

Spain’s island destinations include the Balearic Islands—Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera—and the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Tourism creates regular opportunities in hotels, restaurants, engineering, housekeeping, guest services, wellness and entertainment, with seasonal hiring particularly common in beach resorts. Life is generally outdoor-oriented, with warm weather, coastal activities and a relaxed social culture, although rent and transport can be challenging in popular areas. EU and EEA citizens can work in Spain without a visa but must complete registration and obtain a foreigner identity number. Non-EU applicants normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment; requirements vary by role and nationality. Candidates should confirm accommodation, salary, transport and contract length before relocating. Barcelona is mainland Spain, not an island, and has broader year-round employment than many resort islands.
