Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a Gulf country with a highly international lifestyle and strong employment opportunities in aviation, airports, logistics, hospitality, security, technology, finance and construction. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main centres for professional work, while Sharjah and other emirates may offer more affordable housing. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Arab hospitality and a large expatriate community. English is widely used in workplaces, although respecting local customs, modest dress in formal settings and religious practices is important. The lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, dining and leisure facilities, but summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas; the employer normally arranges medical checks, permits and Emirates ID processing. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, leave, probation and relocation support before accepting an offer.
