The Manager, Corporate and Marketing Communications will develop and deliver communications strategies that strengthen Shangri-La’s corporate reputation, brand profile and marketing objectives in Hong Kong. Requirements typically include a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field, together with several years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, content development or hospitality marketing. Strong English writing and presentation skills are expected; Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable. The successful candidate should be confident managing media, agencies, senior stakeholders and multiple projects, while producing press releases, speeches, campaigns, digital content and internal communications. Candidates are expected to be commercially aware, creative, organised, detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural hotel environment.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company with hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Founded in 1971, the group is recognised for its Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised service and well-established Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its portfolio includes luxury urban hotels, island resorts and business-focused properties serving leisure travellers, corporate guests and events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest experience, colleague development, sustainability and local cultural connections. In Hong Kong, the group operates prominent properties including Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La, offering career opportunities across hotel operations, commercial functions, corporate services and senior management. Corporate and marketing communications roles support brand reputation, media engagement, internal messaging and business growth across the company’s regional operations.
Hong Kong is a compact, international city and a major centre for hospitality, finance, retail, technology, media and professional services. Opportunities are particularly strong in hotels, tourism, luxury retail, communications, events and corporate marketing. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and Mandarin is increasingly useful. The lifestyle combines dense urban neighbourhoods, excellent public transport, international dining and shopping with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so many newcomers share apartments or live farther from central districts. Most foreign professionals require an employment visa, normally sponsored by the employer; applicants generally need a confirmed role and relevant qualifications or experience. Dependants may be eligible for dependant visas. Relocation planning should include housing, healthcare, tax, banking and school arrangements. Hong Kong’s humid summers, busy pace and long commutes are important lifestyle considerations.
