The role also requires teamwork, discretion, initiative and a willingness to support sales visits, exhibitions and hotel promotions.
Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company founded in Hong3 Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates several prominent hotels and resorts, including properties in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and other destinations. The company places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, employee development, teamwork and delivering personalised service. Sales and marketing employees typically work closely with rooms, food and beverage, events, revenue and corporate teams to strengthen the property’s market presence and business performance.
Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel sales, marketing, reservations, food and beverage, guest services, events and tourism, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and resort areas. Island destinations provide a relaxed lifestyle, tropical beaches, water activities and multicultural communities, while larger cities offer better transport, shopping and professional networks. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with festivals, varied cuisine and generally welcoming communities. Living costs vary: accommodation and transport are usually more affordable outside central Kuala Lumpur, though island resorts can be seasonal and housing may be limited. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, with approval depending on qualifications, salary and company eligibility. Candidates should confirm visa arrangements, medical requirements, accommodation, transport and local tax obligations before relocating. English is widely used in hospitality, while Malay is the national language.
