Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected destination offering opportunities in hospitality, finance, retail, technology, logistics, aviation and professional services. Hotel work is concentrated around Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the airport and resort areas. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; politeness, punctuality and respect for hierarchy are valued, while English is widely used in business and tourism. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighborhoods, diverse food and easy access to hiking, beaches and outlying islands. Employment normally requires a work visa sponsored by an employer, and applicants should secure an approved offer before relocating. Employers generally provide guidance on visa documentation, but requirements can change. Housing is expensive, so candidates should compare salary, accommodation, transport and benefits carefully. Hong Kong has humid summers, mild winters and occasional typhoons.
