The Senior Sales Manager (MICE) is responsible for generating business from meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, building relationships with corporate clients, event agencies and destination partners, and achieving hotel revenue targets. Requirements typically include a degree or diploma in hospitality, business or marketing, several years of hotel sales experience, and a proven MICE network in Indonesia. Strong negotiation, presentation, communication and account-management skills are essential. The successful candidate is expected to understand local and international markets, prepare proposals and contracts, coordinate with operations teams, monitor competitors and represent Shangri-La professionally. Flexibility for client visits, networking events and occasional travel is also expected.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and known for its high-quality hotels, resorts and distinctive Shangri-La service. The company operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Its hotels serve leisure travellers, business guests, groups and major events, combining local character with internationally consistent standards. In Indonesia, Shangri-La properties have a strong presence in the premium corporate, diplomatic, wedding and MICE markets. Employees generally work in a structured, multicultural environment with emphasis on guest satisfaction, teamwork, commercial performance and professional development. A Senior Sales Manager supports the company by developing valuable client partnerships, increasing event and accommodation revenue, and ensuring that Shangri-La remains a preferred venue for corporate meetings, incentives and conferences.
Indonesia offers opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sales, events, technology and education across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Sulawesi and the eastern islands. Jakarta is the main corporate and MICE centre, while Bali is stronger for resorts, weddings and international leisure business. The culture is diverse, welcoming and community-oriented, with Bahasa Indonesia widely used and English common in major hotels. Lifestyle ranges from fast-paced urban living to relaxed beach and island communities; costs vary considerably, with Bali and Jakarta generally more expensive than smaller cities. Foreign employees usually need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa before starting work. Employers commonly assist with immigration, although responsibilities should be confirmed in the contract. Research accommodation, healthcare, transport, taxation and local regulations before relocating, and respect religious customs, modest dress expectations and regional differences.
