About the employer

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Established in 1971, the company is recognised for Asian-inspired hospitality, personalised service and its distinctive Shangri-La brand. Its portfolio includes Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, Hotel Jen and Traders Hotels, serving both leisure and business travellers. The group employs colleagues across hotel operations, food and beverage, wellness, sales, technology and corporate functions. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, cultural awareness, service excellence and colleague development. Its corporate and marketing communications teams support brand reputation, media engagement, business messaging and storytelling across a diverse global organisation. Hong Kong remains an important centre for the company’s corporate activities and brand heritage.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, media, marketing and international business, with many regional headquarters based in the city. The culture is fast-paced and cosmopolitan, combining Cantonese traditions, Chinese festivals and global influences. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, varied dining, shopping, beaches and hiking close to dense urban districts. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central areas, so many newcomers consider Kowloon or the New Territories for better value. Salaries are generally quoted monthly in Hong Kong dollars, and employment benefits may include medical coverage, bonuses or housing support. Foreign professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer under the General Employment Policy; the company typically assists with documentation. Applicants should secure a written offer before relocating, check visa conditions, arrange temporary accommodation and budget carefully for rent, deposits and daily expenses.
