The Chinese Restaurant Manager is responsible for the daily operation, service standards, guest satisfaction, sales performance, and team leadership of the hotel’s Chinese restaurant. Candidates should have several years of experience managing a Chinese or upscale restaurant, strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of Chinese cuisine and service etiquette. The role requires confidence in staff scheduling, training, inventory control, cost management, complaint resolution, and hygiene compliance. Shangri-La expects a polished, commercially aware leader who can motivate a multicultural team, maintain luxury hospitality standards, build guest relationships, and support promotions and revenue growth. Fluency in English is generally expected; Mandarin or Bahasa Indonesia may be an advantage.
Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Its brands are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards, elegant accommodation, and extensive food and beverage offerings. Shangri-La hotels typically provide structured training, career development, employee benefits, and opportunities to work in multicultural environments. In Indonesia, the group has operated prominent properties including Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta and Shangri-La Surabaya, serving business travellers, leisure guests, diplomatic visitors, and local communities. The company places strong emphasis on guest care, operational excellence, responsible business practices, and creating memorable experiences through attentive service.
Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and other resort islands. Jakarta and Surabaya provide stronger career prospects in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, and corporate hospitality, while Bali and Lombok focus more heavily on international tourism and resorts. The culture is diverse, welcoming, and community-oriented, with Bahasa Indonesia as the national language; English is widely used in international hotels. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with generally affordable food and transport compared with many Western countries. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay permit before starting work; tourist visas do not authorize employment. Relocation planning should include housing, healthcare, transport, taxes, and local registration. Requirements can change, so candidates should confirm current immigration rules with Shangri-La and Indonesian authorities.
