The Sales & Marketing Coordinator supports Shangri-La’s commercial team with sales administration, marketing campaigns, client communications, promotional materials, market research, event coordination and sales reporting. Candidates typically need a diploma or degree in marketing, business, hospitality or a related field, along with strong organisational, communication and computer skills. Previous experience in hotel sales, marketing or administration is advantageous. The role requires attention to detail, professionalism, creativity and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. The successful candidate is expected to work cooperatively with sales, marketing, reservations and operational teams, maintain accurate records, assist with customer and corporate accounts, and represent the hotel positively. Flexibility, commercial awareness and confidence communicating in English are important; knowledge of Malay or other languages may be beneficial.
Shangri-La is a globally recognised luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for personalised service, elegant properties and its Asian-inspired hospitality philosophy. Shangri-La hotels commonly provide accommodation, dining, meetings, events, spa and leisure facilities for business and leisure travellers. In Malaysia, the company has operated prominent properties in destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. Employees generally work in an international environment with opportunities to interact with guests, corporate clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds. The organisation places emphasis on service excellence, teamwork, professional development and creating memorable guest experiences. Specific benefits, working conditions and career progression depend on the individual property and employment contract.
Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, sales, marketing, food and beverage, marine and resort opportunities, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Langkawi is ideal for resort careers and island living, while Penang combines heritage, food culture and a more urban lifestyle. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels and business. Living costs vary: resort islands may be more expensive for imported goods, while local food and transport can be affordable. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass arranged before starting work; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and immigration approval. Employers often guide applicants through the process. Bring certified documents, check contract benefits such as accommodation and transport, and research healthcare, tax and housing arrangements before relocating.
