Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers varied hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam, and other resort islands. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, villas, cruise-related services, tourism, and food and beverage operations. Bali is the most internationally oriented destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate community, beaches, temples, and a vibrant culinary scene. Java, including Jakarta and Surabaya, generally provides more urban career options and lower living costs in many areas. Local culture values respect, politeness, family, community, and religious traditions, so appropriate dress and considerate behavior are important. Before relocating, confirm salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance, transport, and working hours. Foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship and the correct work and stay permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Costs and lifestyle vary considerably by island, while Indonesian language skills can improve daily life and workplace integration.
