About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its high-end hotels, resorts, residences, and city properties worldwide. The group operates across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets, with a strong reputation for warm, personalized Asian-style hospitality. Shangri-La hotels typically provide accommodation, restaurants and bars, banquet facilities, wellness services, and business amenities. Employees are expected to demonstrate courtesy, attention to detail, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. Benefits for eligible Hong Kong employees may include service charge, meals, medical coverage, staff accommodation or allowances, training, and discounted stays, depending on the property and employment terms. The Hong Kong operation offers an international working environment and opportunities to progress within hotel food and beverage services.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, and professional services. The hospitality sector regularly recruits front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, culinary, and guest-relations staff, especially in busy districts such as Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Causeway Bay, and the airport area. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, efficient public transport, and a fast-paced working style. Lifestyle benefits include excellent dining, hiking, beaches, shopping, and convenient transport, although rent is high and living space can be limited. Foreign nationals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer before starting work; applicants must normally show a confirmed job, suitable qualifications or experience, and market-level pay. Employers often assist with visa paperwork, while candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, service charge, and contract conditions before relocating.
