Working in Malaysia

Penang Island is one of Malaysia's strongest tourism and hospitality markets, offering opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, retail, travel and customer service. George Town combines UNESCO-listed heritage streets, Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan influences, lively food culture and a relaxed coastal lifestyle. Beaches and resort areas such as Batu Ferringhi are popular with visitors, while the island also has hospitals, international schools, shopping centres and reliable transport links. Living costs are generally lower than Kuala Lumpur, although rents near resort and expatriate areas can be higher. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the hiring company handling the application and related approvals. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, accommodation, healthcare coverage and relocation support before moving. Malaysia's tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rain during monsoon periods.
